Privacy & Cookie Policy
Effective date: 3 June 2026 · Last updated: 3 June 2026
FitnessGiving.com (the “Platform”) is owned and operated by Wizewerx Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 06003824, registered office at 124 City Road, London, England, EC1V 2NX (“we”, “us” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect your personal data when you use the Platform. We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1.Who we are (Data Controller)
Wizewerx Ltd is the data controller responsible for your personal data. For any privacy-related question, request or complaint, contact us at [email protected].
2.The information we collect
Depending on how you use the Platform, we collect the following categories of personal data:
- Contact & account information: your name and email address, collected during registration and account management.
- Fitness activity data: activity data (such as walking, running, cycling and swimming) automatically synced from a connected fitness provider — currently Strava — when you authorise the connection.
- Donation & transaction history: records of rewards earned, campaigns, and donations you make through the Platform.
- Cookies & usage data: information about your interaction with the Platform, including IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs and pages visited (see the Cookie Policy in section 12).
3.How we use your information
- Providing the service: operating the Platform, syncing your activities, calculating rewards and enabling donations.
- Customer support: responding to your enquiries and providing assistance.
- Improving the Platform: analysing usage patterns to improve and develop features.
- Security & fraud prevention: protecting the Platform and our users.
- Legal compliance: complying with applicable laws and responding to lawful requests from authorities.
4.Legal bases for processing
Under the UK GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Contract: processing necessary to provide the Platform’s core services to you.
- Legitimate interests: improving the Platform, providing support and preventing fraud, where these interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.
- Consent: for non-essential cookies and any optional processing, which you may withdraw at any time.
- Legal obligation: where we must process data to comply with the law.
5.How we share your information
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:
- Strava: our connected fitness-activity provider. When you authorise the connection, activity data is shared between Strava and the Platform to calculate your rewards. Your use of Strava is also governed by Strava’s own privacy policy.
- Charities Global giving ledger: donations you make are processed through Charities Global, the giving ledger that records and disburses donations to your chosen charities.
- Service providers: a web analytics provider and a transactional email provider who process data on our behalf under written agreements and only on our instructions.
- Authorities: law enforcement or regulators where we are required to do so by law.
6.International data transfers
We are based in the UK and some of our service providers may be located outside the UK. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we put appropriate safeguards in place — such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum — to ensure your data receives an equivalent level of protection.
7.Data retention
We retain your personal data for as long as you are an active user of the Platform. If you cease to be an active user, we will retain your data for a period of three (3) months and then delete or anonymise it, unless a longer period is required by law. We will never retain it for longer than is legally required.
8.Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erase your data (the “right to be forgotten”), in certain circumstances.
- Restrict processing, in certain circumstances.
- Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, contact [email protected]. We will respond within the timeframes required by law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
9.Security
We have implemented appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, use or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
10.Children’s privacy
The Platform is not intended for children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under this age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
11.Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by email and post the updated policy on the Platform with a new effective date. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
12.Cookie Policy
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide information to the site owners.
Types of cookies we use
- Essential cookies: a cookie containing a platform-relevant ID, necessary for the Platform to function and to provide the services you request.
- Analytics cookies: used to understand how you use the Platform — page views, time on site, and IP address (to determine the general geographic location of our traffic and help prevent fraud).
Managing cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may degrade your experience and prevent us from providing parts of the service. By continuing to use FitnessGiving.com you consent to our use of cookies as described in this policy.
